Keramiekcentrum
De Tiendschuur toont in haar museum zowel historisch als hedendaags keramisch werk. De historische collectie biedt een boeiende blik op de Tegelse kleiwaren-nijverheid door de eeuwen heen. Vanaf de Romeinen, die hier als eersten hun Tegula (platte dakpan) produceerden, tot en met het laatste fijn-keramische werk uit het atelier van de fabriek Russel-Tiglia (40er t/m 60e jaren).
Ook ziet u de ontwikkeling van de grof-keramische industrie en het beroemde Tegelse export product: het Tegels zwartgoed (zwart geglazuurd, handgemaakt servies, omstreeks 1830). U maakt kennis met de typische Tegelse drie-kleuren techniek, waarbij gele, witte en donkerbruine klei werd aangebracht op rode klei, door middel van applicatie, penseel of ringeloor.
De hedendaagse collectie groeit gestaag en bevat onder meer werk van Joop Crompvoets, Niek Hoogland, Horst Göbbels, Matthieu van der Giessen, Richard Godfrey, Siegfried Gorinskat† (1938-2006), Netty Janssens en Hein Severijns.
The historic collection shows an interesting view of the clay-industry throughout the centuries.
Starting with the Romans, who produced their first Tegula (flat roof tile), till the last fine-ceramic object from the workshop of the Russel-Tiglia factory (1940 till 1960).
You can see the development of the coarse-ceramic industry and the famous export product from Tegelen: black pottery (black glazed, handmade crockery, about 1830). The typical three-colour technique from Tegelen, (white, yellow and dark brown clay laid on red clay), by application, paintbrush or slip painting.
Our present-day collection is growing and contains work from Joop Crompvoets, Niek Hoogland, Horst Göbbels, Matthieu van der Giessen, Richard Godfrey, Siegfried Gorinskat† (1938-2006), Netty Janssen and Hein Severijns.
